Research Interests: Risk governance, risk assessment, emerging technologies

How I Got Into Solar Geoengineering Research:

I met Tyler Felgenhauer and Mark Borsuk at Duke University when I was a visiting scholar at Duke for a year. They introduced me to the concept of solar geoengineering, and we quickly found areas of overlap with broader risk governance issues of emerging technologies.

Why Solar Geoengineering Research is Important:

It is becoming abundantly clear that we are running out of time to respond to the climate crisis. We need to better understand not only the technological aspects of solar geoengineering, but also the societal and human behavioral aspects to really be able to understand the governance challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a great example to demonstrate that science and technological innovation are not enough to tackle an emerging risk, and we need better communication and governance to make impacts.
